David Thompson, tenured professor of health and safety for custodians. He brings along a 50-year industry career, having operated Maintenance Plus in Oklahoma. In 1987, he relocated to St. Louis, where he held senior consulting roles at O.K. Vacuum & Janitor Supply and New System until 2016.
Currently, David serves as Director of the Academy of Cleaning Excellence in Orlando, FL, a global resource dedicated to professional development for frontline cleaning staff. Hundreds of individuals from around the world have attended his classes on commercial cleaning to earn certifications that advance their operations.
He hosts the podcast "Beyond Clean with ACE," now in its ninth season, which fosters healthy and proactive discussions within the cleaning industry.
In 2007, David authored The New Generation of Cleaning, with an updated edition slated for 2026. He is also working on a memoir trilogy, A Janitor’s Life, set for release in late 2025.
His mantra, “I am a Janitor and I Save Lives”®, reflects his passion for the industry.
